Attitudes Of Others Towards The Bodybuilding Lifestyle.
Saturday March 25, 2006
Yesterday I was talking to a figure competitor about how others reacted towards her at work due to the fact that she is always carrying her meals and not eating the items (i.e. junk) that her fellow co-workers eat. We came to the conclusion that such reactions are to be expected when one follows a healthy bodybuilding lifestyle. It is kind of funny but while at first you may be made fun of and thought of as a nut or outcast, once the results start to come in, everyone then starts coming to you for advice or to ask you "what are you on". When this starts happenning then typically all of the jokes or criticisms suddenly stop...at least while you are around anyways as some may just conclude that the changes in your physique are probably due to some sort of pill that you are not sharing with the rest.
Along these same lines, I found an interesting article in Bodybuilding.com which talks about the same subject. The article was written by some of the site's forum members and it discusses the answers to questions such as:
What are some of the attitudes towards bodybuilding in the outside world?
How do these attitudes make you feel about yourself and those that judge you?
What are some of the reactions people make when they see how healthy you eat, or how much bigger or fit you are becoming?
How does the opposite sex respond to you?
And finally, whether you have lost friends by taking up bodybuilding or gained friends?
If you take a look at this article, feel free to discuss your own experiences at our forum or just shoot me an e-mail.
