Is Walking On The Pavement Better Than Walking On The Treadmill For Fat Loss?

Monday October 16, 2006
One of the things that my pre-contest nutritionist Tim Gardner always tells me is to make sure that I do my walks outside in order to get the fastest fat loss results. Now that I am getting ready for a bodybuilding competition, I get reminded of such a fact pretty often.

Over the weekend, I got a question from a bodybuilder asking me why would walking on the pavement be any better than on the treadmill as both activities are virtually identical. Well, while on the surface it would seem that both activities have the same exact effect on the body, this is not the case.

On my latest Bodybuilding FAQ, see why Walking On The Pavement Is Better Than Walking On The Treadmill For Fat Loss.

You say that the treadmill moves the floor for me; therfore walking on hard surfaces is better. Does this apply to inclined treadmill surfaces? I get a good glute workout this way.
