In this bodybuilding contest preparation posing guide you will learn how to do the side relaxed pose.
Difficulty: Average
Time Required: 30 seconds
Here's How:
- Start with one of your sides facing towards the audience. Your legs will be together and your arms by the side with the face facing forward; not towards the audience or the judges.
- Bend slightly at the knees in order to engage the thighs and hamstrings. By doing this, you will display leg definition.
- Keep the stomach in and the chest high.
- The arm facing the audience should be well flexed, close to your torso, and straight down but slightly moved backwards so that you can show your small waist.
- The arm not facing the audience should be flexed also, with a slight bend at the elbow, and with the shoulder slightly rotated forward in order to engage the pectoral muscle of that side.
- Breathe through the nose at all times.
- Hold the pose for 30 seconds for practice purposes. In the contest, you will keep this pose until the judges advise to do a quarter turn to the right. When that happens, the next pose will be the back relaxed pose.
Tips:
- Make sure that the legs and the feet are close together. There should be no space in between.
- Do not bring the arm not facing the audience too forward as the judges do not like that.
- Refrain from looking at the audience at this time.
- Remember to smile!
- This pose is the same for the other side.
