Introduction

Hugo Rivera [HR]: What made you get started in bodybuilding?

Cecile Bayeul [CB]: I got started in bodybuilding due to the fact that after my divorce I fell into a big depression that led me to becoming anorexic. Thus, I used bodybuilding as a way to feel better and as a way to stop smoking and deal with the anorexia as well. When I started to see how quickly my body was changing I got hooked on it and then I simply wanted to keep getting results. By the way, thanks to bodybuilding I was able to stop smoking at the time.

HR: Have you been athletic all of your life?

CB: Since the time I was very little I used to train at a fire house with the firefighters since my dad was a firefighter. I've also danced for many years and did Kung Fu. So you can say I have been pretty active all my life.

HR: What do you love about bodybuilding the most?

CB: What I love the most about bodybuilding is the lines that it gives you in your body. I love to be defined and I love the shape that bodybuilding exercise gives you. I also love the fact that you can take out any and all negative feelings, such as anger, out in the gym. As a matter of fact, the angry one is the more weight can be carried at the gym (smile). Bodybuilding also increases self confidence and it is an amazing anti depressant.

HR: Excellent stuff! Do you have an idol?

CB: Like everybody my idol is Arnold Schwarzenegger. I was amazed by Arnold Schwarzenegger since I was 5 years old! As a matter of fact, my mom criticized me because I had a lot of posters of him on my bedroom....I was not a little princess...lol.

Now I can say that I have also other idols like Lee Labrada for his amazing symmetrical physique and his ability to pose. Also, my favorite contemporary idol is you, not only for your incredible physique, but also for the vast amount of knowledge that you share and for introducing me to the incredible bodybuilding lifestyle via your writings.

HR: Thank you so much for the compliment! I am most honored. Now, what about a female idol?

CB: While I do not strive to look like my female idol, I do admire Iris Kyle for her incredible muscle quality and definition. She looks like a sculpture.

HR: Yes, she does indeed. So if you don’t want to look like her, what are your bodybuilding goals?

CB: To be the best natural bodybuilder that I can be; muscular, yet extremely feminine. Also, to empower others by introducing them to bodybuilding in the same manner that you did with me. As far as competition, I’d like to compete in the same bodybuilding competition that you competed 10 years ago!
