Bodybuilding: The Best Way for Women To Get In Shape

Saturday March 11, 2006
I had a radio appearance this week and one of the questions I was asked was: "What is the best way for a woman to attain the best shape of her life?". I said to the interviewer that the best way for a woman to attain a shapely and sexy physique was to practice bodybuilding. The interviewer was of course shocked at my answer at first. However, I went on to explain that bodybuilding is not about stepping on a bodybuilding competition stage and getting super lean levels of bodyfat. To practice bodybuilding is to embark in a lifestyle that includes a weight training regime, a healthy diet and a sound rest and recovery schedule.

I explained that women can never get too muscular as their bodies do not produce the amounts of testosterone required to create "manly looking" muscles. Only through the administration of anabolic steroids, or testosterone, can a woman attain a degree of muscularity that can be considered masculine. Incorporating bodybuilding weight training with a sound cardiovascular program and a diet will yield a fit and lean physique that will draw the admiration and respect it deserves.

For more information of this subject, I suggest that you take a look at my article on The Top 7 Myths of Women's Weight Training and Female Bodybuilding and at an article written by my friend IFBB Pro Figure Competitor Pauline Nordin on Bodybuilding Fat Loss Tips for Women.
