Bodybuilding Protein Handbook

Sunday April 2, 2006
Protein is one of the key nutrients that need to be present on a bodybuilding diet at all times in order for muscular gains to happen. It still amazes me how many people purchase all sorts of advanced bodybuilding supplements hoping to make some quick muscular gains but yet still miss the boat when it comes to having the nutrition basics covered; especially something as important as adequate protein intake. The end result of such practice, of course, is lack of bodybuilding gains and a slimmer wallet.

One article that I found on bodybuilding.com that does a very good job at covering the topic of protein very thoroughly is called Protein Handbook for Beginners. In this article, you'll find the answer regarding the importance of protein for the bodybuilder as well as what different sources of protein are useful, what are amino acids, protein timing and even the history of protein. I hope that if any of you are unsure as to why protein is so important for you, once you read that article you start bringing up your intake to at least 1 grams per pound of bodyweight.
