Magazines are entertaining and fun to read, but we need to realize that models and celebrities are airbrushed and made up to look extraordinarily stunning by top professionals. We get the idea that these people are perfect and often set our goals to look like them; we fail to realize that those in the spotlight are really just ordinary, everyday people. Even famous faces have flaws!
Another unfortunate fact is that far too many unhealthy looking bodies are photographed which in turn alters our perception of what is acceptable. We begin to think that this damaging look is in style. Celebrities influence many women to look a certain way. Although the media has a tremendous influence on society, they arent the only ones to blame. Everyday a new diet or miracle weight loss pill is introduced.
I dont want to burst anyones bubble, but there is no quick fix to becoming healthy and fit. Not one single diet or pill is going to change who you are overnight. If it seems too good to be true, it usually is. Anyone can change how they look and feel, but its going to take dedication. Results arent given to anyone; they are earned through a little bit of sacrifice here and there. If making a lifestyle change were easy, the United States wouldnt have a problem with obesity and many companies would go out of business. Im not by any means saying that all supplements are bad; what I am saying is nothing beats hard work. Supplementation should be the absolute final step to looking and feeling your best. While there are many things that lead far too many women not being satisfied with how they look, health and fitness professionals are occasionally to blame too.
If you meet someone and they put you on a program that is identical to your best friend, run! We all have different activity levels, metabolisms, lean mass, etc. What works for one person doesnt always work for another. It usually takes time to figure out what works for each individual so be patient and dont compare yourself to someone else when tracking your progress. These are just a few of the influences that impact our behaviors and lead to negative inner thoughts.
We Have All Been There
Have you ever been to the gym and looked at another female with envy? Of course! We all have; chances are she has done the same thing. Challenge yourself the next time you catch yourself falling a victim to negative thoughts; turn your envy into motivation. This minor scenario is all part of the ongoing bond that women share. You are both at the gym most likely with the same goal of feeling better about yourself both mentally and physically.
Have you ever opened up a magazine and dreamed of looking like the model staring at you in the face? Probably! Women naturally are never completely happy with how they look. We have even gone to the extremes of following the insane diets that are published on occasion or ordering a book that explains in great detail the diet guaranteed to make you lose weight quick and easy. Many of us have even fallen victims to the scary eating disorders that are taking over so many beautiful womens lives. If we embrace our female bond and learn to encourage one another rather than compete with one another, then leading a healthy and fit lifestyle will be more of fun adventure rather than an inner struggle.
